Kyoto, stock full of beautifil and ancient shrines, like the Mizu-dera shrine, is the perfect day trip. Nara is home to the oldest temple made solely of wood in the world, beautifully situated in the center of a public park full of friendly deer. To the west of Osaka lies Kobe, so abtly named like its famous dish, Kobe beef, the most expensive beef in Japan.
