Osaka has been givin the age old name of 'Japan's Kitchen'. Why is this you ask? Well in fact, Osaka has some of the most diverse and expansive selection of public dining in Japan. Some of its famous delacacies include the king of street food, Takoyaki! Another popular delicacy is Okonomiyaki, which is usually described as a savory panckake piled with cooked ingredients such as cabbage, seafood, pickled ginger, and many others. It is usually topped with mayonnaise. How can you go wrong with that!

Takoyaki

Takoyaki, otherwise known as 'Octapus Balls', is a popular fried street food in Osaka, Japan. These are cooked in a specially designed molded pan and are filled with delicious minced octapus. Other ingredients in these savory delicacies are green onion, shrimp, and ginger. They are usually topped with crispy, salty, aonori shavings to add a nice cruncy texture.

Taiko-Manju

Taiko-Manju, also known as Imagawayaki, is a popular festival dessert. The pastry is filled with azuki bean paste, and is cooked in a similar maner to waffles! Some Taiko-Manju are prepared to be savory, filled with curry, vegatables, potatos and or mayonnaise. All in all, they are panckake sandwiches with delicious filling! You can find these easily on the streets of Osaka if you find yourself out late with a craving for something soft and tasty!

Okonomiyaki is a savory pancake dish that is a popular dinner item on nights out in Osaka! Sizzled with batter and topped with salty vegetables and meats, you can't get enough of this interesting dish! Some say that the crepe was an inspiration to the Okonomiyaki, considering the pancake-like texture and variety of topings. Green onion and mayonnaise are must haves in all savory Okonomiyaki. While there are some sweet versions of Okonomiyaki out there, you can't skip on joining your friends at a typical Okonomiyaki dinner joint on a Saturday night!
